I rather like and definitely needed this juicer. Masticating juicers are meant to be run at a slow speed. It works remarkably well and I have now made Blueberry, Strawberry and Apple Juice. Softer fruits like the berries above need to be processed on mixer setting 1 and need extra processing to squeeze them dry. The first run caused soft "fruit ploppies" with way too much juice left in the pectin, so I added a bit of water to the mash and processed until the ploppies became *chuckles* Fruit Dookies" hehehehe. Blueberries tend to produce more of a paste-like syrup similar to a preperation before making jam, so I suggest dillution. Strawberries came out wonderfully after fully processing several times, and the juice was delicious.. Apples are harder and need to be processed on speed 2. There was no real benefit of processing the apple tailings twice, since the juicer squeezed them nicely the first time. A whole 5 lb bag of apples produced almost 2 liters of juice.. I am most... pleased with the quality of the juice it makes. The empty place between the main body and the metal mount-plate can indeed trap water and fluff, so take care to not let it as you rinse. While I do find this empty space between the main body and the backplate mount to be a design flaw and a weakness, I do not find it necessary to disassemble the backplate in order to fully clean the unit, just to keep flushing and shaking out the water. Regularly removing the screws from this type of plastic wears it out quickly and I can't afford to replace this thing like that. As for the person who said the neoprene washer on the back of the spindle of the augur shattered in the way it did below, I say that Neoprene is a very hard substance, and unless the unit were left to run perpetually on high with nothing in it for an extremely long time till friction heated it beyond tolerance, then that would not happen.. The unit is surprisingly easy to clean... the mash just washes right off with no problems and then I just wash with a bit of soap and or fabuloso and bleach I keep in two different spray bottles and then rinse and shake out and dry. I have waited suuuuuch a long time to have a juicer.. It is really nice to at long last have a decent one at a fairly reasonable price.
