UPDATE 7/5/2021: I upgraded my rating from 4 to 5 stars based on over a year of use since I wrote the original review. My wife and I love this citrus press. None of my early concerns (listed below) turned out to be issues at all. I love the little flap that allows you to stop the flow of juice between glasses. Since we usually make 2 glasses of juice, this has been handy. It doesn't leak or drip at all.Original review:The unit is solid, nice looking on the counter, easy to use, very quiet, and really fast. This thing gets all the juice out of an orange half in seconds. I feel like I'm cheating. I am able to make juice in a fraction of the time and with much less mess than the plastic juice attachment for our Kitchen-aid. I can put an empty glass under the spout and fill it with juice without anything spilling or splattering, unlike the Kitchen-aid which makes a mess. You can make many glasses of juice before you need to clean the strainer. This was a very worth while upgrade.So why 4 stars instead of 5? The juice tray and strainer are both made of thin (but solid) stamped stainless steel with a safety issue: the thin outer rims are sharp, as are the inner rims that go over the shaft. If you were cleaning them and slid your finger quickly along this rim with much force, you could get the metal equivalent of a paper cut. I took the tray and strainer to my shop and sanded the edges a little. This helped, but the problem is that these rims are so thin, like a knife, that there is only so much I could do. If you normally wash with latex gloves, this is no issue. If you are aware and wash gently, you won't have an issue, but you will notice the sharp edge so be careful.The specific model I got was the 800CPXLBSS. I received the unit from Amazon on Feb 25, 2020.One tip for assembly: the strainer has a little bump in the bottom with an arrow on it. When installed, this should point to the back of the unit, aligning with the bump in the juice tray. Because the spout on the juice tray is in the front, my first inclination was to align the bump in the strainer with the spout but I quickly saw this was incorrect.The unit comes with well written instructions, although you can figure it out without them. There are 4 spare white split O-rings for the top of the fruit dome. The fruit dome is the piece which snaps into the handle and keeps the top of the fruit from spinning. It is held in place by friction, and my guess is that these must wear out over time for Breville to include 4 spares. The ring is what keeps the fruit dome from falling out of the handle. This ring is not what keeps the fruit dome from spinning. The fruit dome is solidly keyed and has no chance of spinning.There is only one strainer, which is perfect. I like a little small pulp in my juice and this is exactly what the Breville 800CPXLBSS delivers. I found an on-line video that showed two strainers with the unit - one fine and one coarse. This must be an older video, or for a different model.The power cord has a nice finger hole in it to pull out of the socket (U.S. model).I am happy with the unit and would buy it again. This is our second Breville appliance. We have a Breville toaster that is incredible - a work of art in ease-of-use, features, and quality, which is why we decided to try this Breville Citrus Press. The Citrus Press is pretty nice and I'll give it an A. The toaster gets and A+++.I love it! My husband loves it ! It was a anniversary gift for him. It’s not loud at all I done my research on Amazon and other juicer are loud on videos and they are made with plastic in the middle of the juicers. This is not it’s all stainless still to last long!Excellent machine.We’re using it in our restaurant and love it! Great ,for home & commercial use!Easy to use on lemons,limes oranges, & grapefruit.I love fresh juice and this juicer gets more juice out of the fruit than any other juicer I have ever had! Great machine and easy to use and clean.I typically use our juicer once a week for my weekly orange juice fix & lime juice for drinks & cooking. Also, about four or five times a year (more?) we'll use it for cases of limes and oranges at a time for parties. My once a week fix is about 25 oranges and about 20 limes. I just checked my order history and we bought this in May 2007 - it's still going strong and still feels and looks new. It makes quick work of juicing a case of oranges or a case of limes (mmmm, margaritas!) and I've also used it regularly for grapefruit (see note below) and lemons.There are a few downsides that have semi-remedies:Hard limes. We have a lime tree and sometimes the fruit is quite hard. This can seemingly cause the machine to seize up (doesn't seem to hurt anything, just won't squeeze the juice). Our solution to this problem has been to roll the limes first to make them less hard.Oval limes & lemons. If the cut citrus is more than half a round ball the juicer can't really handle it properly. Our solution to this is to use slices of the middle for garnish and then the fruit squeezes much more easily. Now we have pretty lime slices for margaritas or orange slices for other edible garnish.Huge grapefruits. So while it works "okay", you do feel like you do feel like you're losing some juice on these. I haven't let this problem deter in my love for the machine. I simply wring the last bit of juice out by hand so that I don't feel like I'm wasting any.Cleaning. Clean immediately and there will be no problems, but if you leave the pulp for a day (or night), it's not going to be so easy to clean. I put all of the parts into the dishwasher and have never had a problem.Cabinet space. I used this at a friend's house and saw that low cabinets can interfere with the handle, but I use it on an open island and my cabinets at home have more space between cabinet and counter top so it's no problem for me. At my friend's, I simply moved it closer to the edge and was much more careful about placing a glass to catch the juice so that it wouldn't slide off.Slippage. It does move around some on slick counters. I have that problem (not really a problem, in my humble opinion) with my new granite counter top, but I'm sure that I could put it on a mat and stop that problem if I really felt it were a problem. I do keep my eye on where it is.Pulp. Sometimes if you're doing a lot of oranges or grapefruit that has a lot of pulp, you may need to empty out the basket. I don't see this as a problem, but I saw someone else comment about it. I do let the machine go extra revolutions for about 30-60 seconds to make sure I'm getting all the juice, but then I spoon out the seeds and pulp into the trash (or disposal to make the sink smell nice) before going another round. It comes with two pulp screens - one for low pulp and the other for higher pulp. Keep in mind that most of the nutrients are in the pulp. I love that you can change it because sometimes I use lime juice for a Thai soup and low pulp is better.The ease of use, the ease of cleaning, and the results produced have made this a GREAT BUY! I'm not a fan of products that have only one use, but even if I only used this for squeezing oranges, I would still say that it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have used many a hand squeezer or reamer and I still do on occasion for just one lime or whatever, but if you want fresh squeezed orange juice, this is definitely the way to go.I juice lemons regularly and this appliance makes doing it a breeze!So far (Over 1 year of daily use) Breville Citrus Press Pro 800CPXL has exceeded our expectations. It’s not a cheap citrus juicer, but if you need the best citrus juicer in the market, this is it. Last November, I was at pharmacy to buy Vitamin C supplement for my daughter for cold and cough and pharmacists said “I would rather recommend you continue with what you are holding in your hand – Oranges”. Since then, we buy big box of Oranges every week from Costco, so I can say our usage of this machine “Heavy”. After 1 year of use, this looks same as when we took out of box for the first time. We have thrown cheap plastic citrus juicers from Wal-Mart- I noticed plastic juicing dome was wearing out and where do that worn out plastic go? Obviously in our tummy.This is sixth Breville kitchen appliance in our home and like other Breville stuff, this die cast machine is built like tank. It looks very nice on counter-top and juicing is very easy and effective. You need to apply just little pressure while juicing and motor is very silent. Power-assisted arm not only make squeezing effortless, but keeps you hand clean as you don’t need to press fruit on the top of juicer dome. Built-in sensors activate juicing process once the press arm and fruit are in proper contact. I also notice that it is more effective and gives more juice compared to plastic juicers since you have no leftover juicable part remaining on orange halves. It goes right to the very end and takes out every bit of juice out of fruit.Top and bottom cups as well as pulp cup is removable and very easy to wash and clean. All parts that requires washing are dishwasher safe. Though we mainly use it for oranges, it should be noted that it easily handles grapefruits and limes as well. When you need to stop juice to flow, you can simply lift the spout upwards, thus there is no more dripping while taking the glass away. You can control the pulp stainless steel filters. THE GOOD:• Outstanding built quality• Effortless and easy squeezing• Exquisite look – You would like to keep it on the counter-top• More juice and almost no wastage• Very quiet operation• Very easy to clean• Pulp control• Drip-stop spoutTHE BAD:• I can’t think of any major issue other than price. Edges of strainer parts are little sharp, but I have never hurt myself while cleaning. Though top cup eject button worked perfect so far, I think this should have been designed better as sometimes I have to try couple of times to put it back. It sits by plastic o-ring gaskets and It should be noted that it comes with extra o-ring type gaskets in case you need to replace it.FINAL THOUGHTS:I bought this Citrus Juicer after researching every product in market. I don’t think there is any better citrus press in market than this. It is expensive, but it is far far better than other juicers we have used before. You can buy packaged juices at lower price, but when you do it yourself, you know that you are getting is pure and fresh juice and not some watered down stale juice. Overall, this is a stellar product and you would not be disappointed if you are doing regular citrus juicing. I am very demanding person, but this product earns Highly…Recommended rating.This is a solid machine except for the plastic cover on top. In my opinion it's simply a bad design and it's very annoying because it comes loose almost everytime you use the machine. Why make the whole machine in metal and add a cheap plastic cover on top? It's either lazy or stupid design. The cover is help but a small plastic ring that gets worn off quickly causing the plastic cover to come loose. If you're a frequent user like me this will piss you very quickly.This citrus press is perfect! Extremely easy to use, fast juicing process, great yield, very simple to set up and cleaning it is a breeze!The only complaint I had with this juicer is that the fruit dome would come off nearly every time I pressed it down. This annoyed me so much it was almost a deal breaker. However, it was a quick, easy and free fix! The citrus press comes with extra c-clips, and all you have to do is replace one if it ever starts to wear down and the top starts to fall off. Now juicing is even more efficient!I would 100% repurchase this citrus press if something were to ever happen to mine, and I recommend it to anyone looking for an elite citrus juicer!I have loved using this small appliance for several years. Unfortunately it has some major design /engineering flaws which cause it to falter and fail far earlier than an item this expensive should. One flaw is the terrible decision to house the spout’s metal mounting pins inside a brittle plastic component that is subject to repeated compression when squeezing citrus fruits. The plastic housing fractures, and the spout cannot be re-secured in place without replacing a large plastic component. One day this very costly unit just failed. I bought another one (reconditioned/repackaged) because the helpful reviews (thanks everyone!) of other juicer-buyers confirmed my hunch that nothing has come on market that rivals the Breville. You pay - and pay a lot! - a lot for its power and ease of use. But as I have found with other Breville products ( e.g. a really expensive coffee grinder), you pay multiples of the cost of other offerings, but you do NOT get multiples of their expected service life in return. I know this isn’t great logic, as there can be other variables than length of service-life that make one brand/model of appliance preferable to another. Nevertheless, I'm sure I'm not alone in being repeatedly disappointed and ill-served when yet another high-end, exorbitantly expensive one-edition wonder from Breville starts to crumble, or clog, and then fails altogether having lasted no longer than a much more reasonably priced item.You get what you pay for - and since you're paying top notch for this machine, you will absolutely get exactly what you expect of it: a great citrus press, heavy and exceptional at its task.Exceptionally easy to clean, to use, to assemble and disassemble.The only small inconvenience is that it is bulky - it requires a good amount of space to store since nothing can be put over it. But other than that, it is amazing and you will absolutely love making orange juices again. You will even want to make lots of them.
