Description
Begin your day with a glass of fresh, nutrient-packed juice! The high-speed Total Chef® Juicin’ Juicer combines a powerful motor and premium surgical steel blade to quickly and efficiently extract vitamin-rich juice from your favorite fruits and vegetables. The extra-wide opening accommodates large pieces and even whole fruits and vegetables to save valuable prep time, and the juice and pulp are diverted into separate outlets to use however you wish. Try mixing the pulp into baked goods or simmering into a delicious veggie broth. The Juicin’ Juicer is also suitable for making nutritious nut or rice milks by processing almonds, cashews, or cooked rice. With a compact footprint and dishwasher-safe removable parts, the Total Chef® Juicin’ Juicer will quickly become one of your favorite countertop accessories. Tips for Best Use Remove thick peels from fruits such as oranges and pineapples before juicing; foods with thin skins do not have to be peeled Press ingredients into the intake chute slowly to extract the maximum amount of juice Don’t throw out the pulp! Add to baked goods or freeze for homemade “pulpsicles” so none of the goodness goes to waste

I was looking for a lower priced juicer for a while. For each juicer whether it was lower or higher priced the reviews were all over the place; ranging from 1 star to 5 stars. I was anxious to start juicing at home ASAP, so I spent almost a full day pouring over reviews for juicers. Luckily I stumbled upon a Review for this juicer by S Simmons. This reviewer gave very detailed instructions on how to get most out of the product. I urge anyone interested in buying this machine to read that review. It is usually the first on listed for this product because it was voted the most helpful. I Have owned the juicer for about 2 months and I am thrilled with the results. The little rubber suction feet keep it glued to the counter, no worries about it budging let alone dancing off the counter. I find it pretty easy to clean with running hot water and a sponge. I would be careful to check the mesh screen before drying. Just hold it up to the light and if anything is there you will see it. Little fibers especially from carrots if not cleaned well might clog the machine and cause a blow up situation as some reviews have complained about. For anyone concerned about noise, there is no getting around a bit of noise, but I find this much quieter than my old heavy duty blender. Early on I chipped a little piece off the plastic lid, I was not really sure how it happened, so I called customer service right away. They were very nice and gave me instructions to have the part replaced, I was totally pleased and amazed when the replacement showed up 2 days later. I can't speak to the durability of the motor yet. I will follow up in the comments if anything happens, but so far so good; no problems using the juicer everyday.Update 1/13/2014 Well I have been using this at least 2 times a week average since my purchase. The motor is still going strong. I am careful to give it a minute or 2 rest during a large juicing session, and carefully clean screen after each use. It still juices as well as the first day. This juicer works very well for the price. I recently went on a 10 day juicing fast. Using the Koolatron Total Chef juicer I was yielding the following: 3 medium nectarines yielded 9ozs of juice, 2 medium apples yielded 6 1/2ozs, 3 cups of grapes yielded 8ozs, and 6 medium carrots yielded 6ozs. The Koolatron did not do as well with leafy vegetables. It would take a whole batch of kale to yield 5ozs. Since I was going through a lot of vegetables, I decided I should purchase a juicer that yielded more from leafy vegetables. I purchased the Omega J8005 juicer which cost $258.00, which is substantially more than the Koolatron. Here are the yields I received from the Omega: 3 medium nectarines yielded 12ozs, 2 medium apples yielded 8ozs, 8 kale leaves yielded 6 1/2ozs, and 30 spinach leaves yielded 2 1/2ozs.A friend got sick and wanted to start juicing for health reasons. I gave her my Omega J8005. Which left me with the Koolatron again. The Omega J8005 have a 1 1/2 wide chute for feeding the fruits and vegetables into the juicer so I had to cut up everything into small pieces. Whereas the Koolatron's chute is 3 inches wide so I was only cutting things up to fit into the chute. I decided to trying cutting up my fruit and vegetables into small pieces when feeding them through the Koolatron chute to see if I could increase the amount of juice produced. Here is the amount of juice I yielded after cutting my fruits and vegetables into small pieces: 6 medium carrots yielded 8ozes (2ozs more), 2 medium apples yielded 8 1/2ozs (2ozs more and 1/2oz more than the Omega J8005).I was able to get more juice out of my fruits and vegetables from the Koolatron by cutting them into smaller pieces. The other mistake I was making was using the plunger to force the fruits and vegetables down. Instead, drop the items down the chute and let the juicer take its time. Also, don't over fill the chute; let the items bounce around. Use the plunger to cover the chute opening so the items don't pop out. Using this technique I was able to yield more juice from even the leafy vegetables. The Omega J8005 still yields more juice from leafy vegetables than the Koolatron, but I am very impressed with the Koolatron now that I know how to use it correctly.I bought this juicer based on reviews last January. I was in an accident & unable to juice any garden produce until today. I opened the box & found the pre-formed cardboard on top torn. It says there is a cap to stop the juice, but not in my box. So I don't know if I got a returned juicer or not. Washed everything, put it together (which is easy, logical), washed beets & carrots, peeled beets & cut off tops of both. Very fresh, firm smaller veggies (about 1" size). Put it together PROPERLY, top snapped into place on both sides. Turned it on & pressed slowly for maximum juice. 3 small beets & 5 small carrots. Got less than 1/4 cup of juice. Very wet pulp. Most of the pulp in the lid, did not go down into the black residue bin. Beet juice started squirting out the back in small amounts (it was sitting on my counter just as in the picture, so it was the side that was leaking technically). I tried to turn it off. (I had gone from speed 1 to 2 when 1 wasn't getting much juice). It wouldn't turn off, I had to unplug it. It very slowly came to a stop. It had a slight 'burning motor' smell. Plugged it in & tried again & immediately was doing the same thing. Had to unplug. All veggies were gone & juice continued to slowly drip out into glass, but more was running down the sides then in the cup. Only juiced basically one normal size carrot & beet & it worked as bad as the 2 cheaper juicers I've tried & given away as they weren't good enough for juicing everyday as I want to do. I won't be trying this one again. I bought stainless steel thinking it would be better quality. Wrong. Easy to use & clean. (Only reason I gave it 2 stars.) Too bad it didn't work. I'm elderly & on a fixed income. I can't afford to throw away money like this. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
